Good Morning,

I have very sensitive data on my computer. I shut it off every evening before I go home and there are times that it is on when I get back in. This has happend very frequently in the last month.

Is there a way of finding out who was on my computer? I have Windows 2000 Professional.

In the meantime, I have enabled the screen saver password, so that when I am away it will kick in, but was unable to locate where to set the timeing of it.

Appreciate in any all help with these questions, and thanks in advance for your assistance.

Why not set a power-on password in the BIOS.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

How to audit the logons at your computer:
. Have you set a user password on all accounts on your workstation? You must.

. Disable AutoLogon if used.

. Screensaver passwords are taken from the user account, they are not set outside of this unless you use a third-party screensaver.

The screensaver settings are found under Control Panel, Display; or by right-clicking a blank area of the Desktop and Choosing Properties, Screensaver, Settings.

. Many computers have event driven wakeup features: wake on lan activity, wake on ring to your modem, wake on USB events, .etc

Check your BIOS Settings for any power management or other feature sets that involves waking the computer and disable them.

Go to C:/Documents and Settings and delete every profile except yours. Then when the person logs on it will create a new profile for them.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
