Hi!

I want to know how many web site my hosting comany has. They say they host 2millions web sites. Hum... I seriously doubt it.

Question:

Is it possible to list all domains a hosting company host (using his dns ns1.hostingcie.com) with dig, whois or .. don't know :)

Not really.

You might be able to get a partial list.

Get an IP address this HSP uses, and perform a WHOIS query at whois.arin.net. That will tell you who is using the block of addresses your HSP is using. From there, you could try a reverse DNS lookup against every address in the block.

The problem is, reverse DNS zones have to be set up separately from forward lokup zones, so there is no guaranty you an perform a reverse lookup. Also, some IP addresses may be shared between sites. Depending on how the reverse DNS zones are set up, their DNS servers may not be able to tell you much.

If the HSP makes it policy that their domain contact handle must be one of the handles used on every domain they host (for example, the technical handle), you might be able to find one domain name they host, then backtrack them through whois to see what domains their handle is associated with.
