Last night backups of all of my databases were performed by this (user? Process?) and I have never noticed this previously. None of my standard jobs ran (none were scheduled in the time frame of these backups), yet these were performed as if via a mtce plan. Is there something amiss here, or have I just never noticed this before??

FYI - This was caused by some changes put in place for Arcserve... [What's that about the left hand knowing something about the right hand???]

Are you auditing logins in SQL Server? If so, check the error log to see if and when that user logged in.

Check Security>Logins in Enterprise Manager. Does the LOGIN DBASQL exist? (Are you using Windows or SQL Server authentication?)

Check the Windows Event Viewer Logs (application, security, system). That might give you a clue as to who or what process is using that login.

Check Arcserve. What is it running as? If it is backing up SQL Server for you, it has to do so using a valid login - could that be DBASQL?
