I just read this article reporting how Google's self driving cars are programmed to go as much as 10 MPH over the speed limit.

This begs the question, are they also programmed to pull over when there are flashing red lights in the rear view mirror? And also, who get the speeding ticket? The "passenger" or the car? Or is the ticket mailed to Google? [bigsmile]

I am sure the passenger would not get the ticket, since they would be at the mercy of the driver (like in a cab). From what I can tell most jurisdictions in California would not notice a car doing 10 mph over the speed limit on a freeway (except for the traffic building up behind it).
