Hi,

Can anyone help me with a question I am having. I am trying to insert word docs or excel spreadsheets into a SQLServer database (7.0) using the image datatype. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts. I have not even tried to retrieve them back yet since I cannot get them into the database yet. Any ideas or sample code would be great.

Thanks

Mario

why are you trying to insert a word document into a database ?

could you not just insert the name of the file into the database and read that out to link to the file in the browser ?

like

<a href=&quot;documentslocation#wordfilename#&quot;>#wordfilename#</a>

arperry:

I am actually trying to insert the word document into the database. I tried to tell my users that I could just insert the name of the file into the database, but their current application (Access) allows them to insert the word document or images directly into the database. I have been told by them that if access can do I should be able to do it.

The real situtation is that it all comes down to space on the web server (paid for by users budget only) or space on the shared database (SQLServer - paid by all groups on the share equally) - just a numbers game, that I have to play.

I have tried to do the insert and retrievals but I canot get the query to work. I am looking to see if there are any ASP examples that I could convert to CF, but I have not found any yet.

Thanks

Mario

I am trying to insert a word docs and images into the Sql Server database. I have tried to tell me users about just saving the filename in the database, but their curent access 2000 application lets them save in the database so they keep telling me that CF should be able to do the same if not more.

I am trying to research this more on the web put all I find is references to Access.

Thanks

Mario
