The title says it all really!
Is the MSN search engine still powered by LookSmart?
If not, where do they get their results from now?

MSN dropped Looksmart some time ago, currently they are still using (seemingly) a mixture of Inktomi and Overture results but the msnbot has been increasingly active over the past few weeks, add in the fact that Yahoo own both Ink and Overture and the picture gets far more interesting.

that happened a couple of weeks ago, with the crap that "sitematch" is turning up I should keep a tight hold on your money for now.

looks like Yahoo may perform a cock up on the same scaie as the Looksmart mess.

The client doesn't want to indulge in any PPC programmes anway. All I could squeeze out of them was a few hundred for directory submissions (mainly Yahoo funnily enough... I see a pattern here)

:)

and since when did "highest quality" mean "those who paid"?

unfortunately to the likes of Looksmart, Overture and now seemingly Yahoo, £££ or $$$ does mean just that.

It's what made Google the most used search engine on the Internet and now that Yahoo are retiring AllTheWeb (Fast) and AltaVista (Scooter) from crawling, the competition just got even less.
