I need to track who is using/in a DB so I can limit access to certain areas. I am using Access 2003 and will be moving to Office 7 the first of the year. The database is located on a server.

A coworker wrote some code a few years ago that looked at the .ldb file and extracted information...including userID. This code, for some reason, no longer returns any information.

I looked in FAQ's and found a reference to jetutils.exe. This is great but I need to integrate it into my db.

Also, I opened the .ldb file in a text editor...it returned my computer name but not my userID. We have some computers here at work that can have multiple users

Can anyone help me with this issue.

Thanks,

You can have a little table in your DB with UserID, StartTime, StopTime, etc. fields where you can keep it yourself all the info you need. Just INSERT INTO this table a record when user logs in, and UPDATE the record (with StopTime) when they get out.

Not really the answer to your Q, but one way to do it....

Have fun.

Andy,

Can you help in finding out who is logged in?

Thanks Andy...I will give them a try.

I will let you know how it comes out.
