who command output incorrect

The who command ouput on Redhat ES 2.1 kernel 2.4.9-e.12
is showing users who have already logged off the system. Anyone know where I could look to troubleshoot this?

Your wtmp file is probably corrupt. It's usually located in /var/log or similar.
