After reading all the above, I would just rather pay someone to give me step by step over the phone. I want to connect my home to my office. Windows 98 on both machines. I have not purchased any hardware yet. I have Comcast Cable on both ends. Who is the undisputed expert? Reply here or

Email me please at drogers412@aol.com Thanks..Don

I would buy two SonicWall boxes and ask the company I would buy them from to set them up.

Keith is right that Win98 is not the best platform to build a network on, but as I understand it you only have 2 PC's you need to share some things on.
Win2K Pro or Win/XP Pro should solve that part.

If what you need is a secure network you will as a minimum need a firewall in both ends that can do statefull inspection. Application level firewalls are more secure, but everything comes at a price.

Look at SonicWall Tele3 or Tele3 TZ. They don't cost much and you can get experts to set it up for you. Some will even provide remote management at a low fee.

Do you need the connections to be two way?

i.e. will you be connecting home to work and work to home?

Yes...I need to pull data both directions from home to office and office to home. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 at both locations now. Seems like I read somewhere that this router may have this capability. I am running windows 98se at both locations and prefer to keep this OS.
