Anyway, I just got an ad for upgrade of Corel Office to 12. I checked it out just out of curiosity, since beyond Pdx I have pretty much migrated to Wz Office. Anyway, 12 is advertised with wireless doodads and no Paradox in sight. Wondering where P was, I did a site search and came up empty on the whole Corel.com site. Have they just dropped the sucker? Whazzup?

I sure wish someone who gave a flying rodent's rump about the program would take it off Corel's uninterested hands. Maybe not Bill, but doesn't Borland want it back? Delphi? Filemaker?

I can stumble on with this, most likely, for a few more windows versions, but I have an awful lot of time and annoyance invested in the product, and I can't import 12,000 chef resumes into any other format if some evil MS trick makes it absolutely obsolete.

It only comes with the Professional version, crappy I know and it's a shame because Paradox was such a good program. I doubt that Borland wants it back, I don't think Borland has had much of a future since Phillipe ran it into the ground fighting with Lotus.

Why can't you import 12,000 resumes into an other format? Paradox is good at exporting and many programs have no problem importing Paradox files.

This may turn up double. I checked the Professional Edition, and no Paradox. No Paradox anywhere on the site, at least with search. It does not exist, as far as I can tell.

Again, as for MDB, you cannot to the best of my knowledge, export documents or files in the MDB file to any other program. Or import. Everything else from memo to logical is a slam dunk. Just no MDB. If you know of one that works, I'd love to hear about it.

NOTE: the link mentioned in it to WP12 at Corel DOES work for me, and lists Pdox.

ELSEWHERE ON THE WEB I vaguely remember seeing instructions on how to make older versions of Paradox coexist with newer versions of WP -- it can be done, I have done it!

If you do it, there's an issue with making WP recognize the proper help files. Have to make sure to install Paradox separately and in the right order.

Corel web site says that the Paradox that ships with WP12 is Pdox10, same as the one that ships with WP10 / Office 2002.

This is NOT true. Not unless they recently changed it.

It is Paradox 11, which has some minor differences.

And the most recent SP ***breaks your BDE config***

If you install SP2, you'll have to manually change your BDE configuration.
