Hi guys,

I'm having an issue on a large IPO 9.0.2.0 build 860.

The client started having this issue randomly on 9508 sets .
The person calls another phone internal or external off of their speaker (hands free) and as soon as they are done dialing they hear a bunch of white noise instead of a ringing , I'm not sure if the call even completes because they have been hanging up right away.

They have 9608 phones as well and have not experienced this on any ip phones.
The phones that have had this issue have been spread out on various ds30b mods so it's not the module.

Thanks

I would upgrade to 9.0.5 (972). Release 9.6 is experiencing bugs.
If it's not occurring on any control unit extensions I would be looking at the LAN cables between the control unit and the DS modules. They should be the shielded, metal tipped ones that come with it.
I looked and couldn't find a part number, but here's further discussion on the requirement I refer to.

I'm clear but my fighter is down.

Is it really loud white static? If so, try disabling echo cancellation on the effected handset once.

I have had this happen to me before but it was intermittent. Ended up replacing the phones under warranty as this occurred about 6 months after the install. i had 3-9508 phones that were all out of the same batch.

Thanks guys,

I just upgraded to 9.0.4 so I'll wait to hear back.
The system has a good ground from the electric outlet so it should be ok.

I haven't tried to stop echo cancellation yet but ill wait to see if the problem comes back first.

Thanks again

good ground from the electric outlet" is not earthing the chassis.

I'm clear but my fighter is down.

It seems the upgrade fixed it .

To holdmusic34, in a newer properly wired to code building with IG plugs in the server room earthing a chassis or plugging it in to an IG circuit is the same end result as earthing it . I used to be an electrician

If you open the power supply you will find that the ground pin is not connected to anything so the system is not grounded via the power cord

Well the whole purpose of a ground is to protect someone from getting electrocuted through touching the casing if a charged component gets loose and comes in contact with the casing.
When i saw this statement above i couldn't help but think to myself, wow! how does Avaya get a UL certification when they put a dummy ground wire? This is not right so I had to check it out.

I took apart an IP500v2 and looked at the power supply and it is very hard to see because the pins are not wired but rather welded to the circuit board so then i said why am i taking this all apart when a simple continuity test will confirm if it is grounded to the casing or not .
So i got out my trusty fluke ohm meter and as i thought the grounding prong, casing and ground screw at the back all have continuity between them.
Sorry Westi, your wrong, it is connected.
Now i wont have to call UL to report Avaya for a dangerous device :)

I rather be wrong on this to be honest because it makes more sense. It however looks like it is not on the board when I look at it.
Thanks for checking

Follow up on this: the issue was fixed after the 9.0.4 upgrade.

thanks for reporting back, always good to hear back on the end result as someone will come with the same problem sooner or later.
