White background issues 1

Hi,

I have an image with a white background -- I want to make this white background grey -- how can I do this?

Make a copy of your original picture before you mess with it.

Make a selection around the part you wish to preserve
then Fill Tool the remainder with the background color (make it white)

If you don't understand this let me know and I can assist step by step.

So many ways....can you tell me about your pic e.g. is it a person with outdoor background or in front of a single colored wall...stuff like that.

Better yet, can you post the pic if it's not too personal?

Sorry re-read your post (white background, have you tried the following:

Filter > extract ?
