Recently updated NW 5.0 from service pack 5 to 6a. The standard web server I'd been running that shipped with NW 5 was also updated. Now I have running two modules,

"Netware Enterprise Web Server 5.10a" nshttpd.nlm 12/4/00
"Netware Web Manager 5.10" admserv.nlm 7/25/00

I need this solely for GroupWise Web Access, it serves no other function. Running GroupWise 5.5, which like Netware 5.0, has been discontinued by Novell.

I can't seem to find this on Novell's web site, references are to either "Novonyx" or "Netscape" web server, not "Netware" web server.

It has been causing some abends and possibly other suspicious behavior, so I'm wondering if there are any updates available, and/or tips for troubleshooting/tweaking.

And maybe I have an orphaned product. Short of upgrading to NW 5.1 or 6, what can I do without spending lots?

Well I will tell you that you have 3 different choice:

Netscape Web Server (Free)
IBM Websphere (Bit costly)
Apache Web Server (Free)

I am almost positive that the web server offered with Netware is actually the Netscape Web Server.

You can download Apache from the Novell website and it also has a mod to allow login via NDS.

Just my two cents worth.

Thanks, Mark. Some of the web server components are located in the sys:novonyx directory, which offers us the clue of its origin, that short-lived company formed as a joint venture between Novell and Netscape.

I have updated this with the patches nesn51b and nesn51d. The latter is officially only for Netware 5.1, since Netware 5.0 is a "discontinued product" by Novell (as of March 31 this year), but they seem to be working fine so far in the current setup.

GroupWise 5.5 is also "discontinued" (that is, unsupported) as of Aug. 31, so I will have to upgrade these products or else rely more heavily in the future on this fine forum for support.

I'll write back to the thread if these patches don't solve the problem. Truth-Compassion-Tolerance
