Hello all! I need SQL to be a backend for a database that I have. The number of users I will have will not be more than 50 but will be reliably 20 at any one time.

I do NOT have a server to place SQL on. I have computers using Windows 2000 professional edition. The users will also be using Windows 2000 professional edition.

Is there a SQL out there for me? Any help is appreciated!

Chris

Hello all! Thanks for the replys.

I would like to use SQL 2000 if I can.

The Developer, Personel, and Desktop editions all can't handle more than a couple people at once. I need to be able to handle 20 - 30 at the same time with the possibility of 50.

Is there any way to get either of those three editions to handle that many concurrent users? (Not batch processes, I know they have a workload governer)

So you've got 50 users running a client/server application off a single central database and you haven't got a server?! Seems odd to me.

You really need to use Standard/Enterprise edition which both require a Server OS. If you haven't got one you may need to rethink your ideas. --James

I have the possibility of 50 users. Right now, its down around 15 although only 12 or so can get in at any one time. I am using SQL server 2000 personal edition currently.

I would really like to use Standard/Enterprise edition but right now I don't have the server and I am not sure I can get one easily. I was hoping there might be another solution.
