Hi,

I have some confusion about which DS trunk cards will work at all with the MICS (fiber) unit. Now I understand that only the NT7B75 (LS/DS) and the NT5B41 (CLID) cards will fit in the core as well as a fiber trunk module and will work in either.

I also understand that the newer Global Trunk Modules will fit and work in both the core and fiber trunk module and will also work in either.

My question is with the NT5B40 which seems to fit only in the fiber trunk module (not in the core) and I cant tell if it will work there either, just that it will physically fit).

Does anyone have the definitive answer to this?

All trunk cards will work with the ICS.

Older trunk cards that don't fit in the KSU will if you file a notch in the top inside corner. They will work there or the TM just fine. Differences being that sometimes an LS/DS card will be noisy on a loop trunk. The new Global card is supposed to fix that in some way. The noise varies greatly system to system.

Cheers

The other difference, is, true they will work, but the power consumption of the older cards is greater, and hence, the reason for the slot tab being different. The tabs were changed for a reason. On a full blown system, you are at risk of overdriving your power supply in the MICS. If you file off a tab on a card, stop and think, "Why is the tab there in the first place?" It was NOT an engineering mistake.
