Which switch to choose for the CCNP/CCIE lab!

Hi,

I have an option to have one of the following switches. Would any of these help me for CCNP and CCIE switching practice. If so, will this be enough.

I checked the Ciso site, none of these use 5000 CLI. Only 2901 and 2902, other than 5000's use the same CLI. 2924 uses IOS and I don't know about 1912

Here are the switches I have to choose from:

Catalyst Switch 1912 - 12 10Base-T ports, 2 100Mbps port

OR

WS-C2924-EN - 22 10/100 Base-T ports, 2 100Base-TX uplink ports

2900 is one that is used over and over at the command line. The 1900 is used in the CCIE lab but not so much on the CCNP test.

A SET based switch is a must.. or access to one through one of the many online rentals.. mine included ;-)

You can also look for a 2901(I thinks that the right number) or a 5502 for a *real* set based interface. You can skate on the set based if you have good experience from the past or present.

I have two tutorials on my site.. one for the 2900 and one for the 1900... it will give you the basic commands needed to work on these switches. The Cat5K is not done yet..

Go with the 2924XL. Few use the 1900's anymore. Switch configuration varies soo much. The 1900's are different than the 2400XL's which are different from the 3500XS's which are different from the 5000's, which are thankfully very similar to the 6000's.

Learn the 2924XL and the 5000/6000 and you should be able to figure out just about anything else.
