Hi All,

Lets say user A tries to dial user B and B has forwarding ON to outside number.
User A has short code 9N/Ns1112223333.
User B has short code 9N/Ns2223334444.
So every user has its own caller ID when dialing out.

The question is, when the call got forwarded, which caller ID it would use to get out? the originator "user A" or the receiver "user B"
or the default short code?

It would use the shortcode that user B has setup
the call starts from user B to the outside, User A is not calling out.

I am 75% sure on that :)
with Avaya you never know. It could also change from one release to another or dot release to another and back.

@westi: yes thats what i have think of. The reason I am asking is I have a customer says that it is showing the caller id of user A Not user B or main number. I got a chance to check the configuration lately and I didn’t found any short code set for these users. So it should uses the default short code 9N. However I asked the customer to make a test call to user B From user A and it was showing caller Id of user A.

The default short code 9N also doesn’t has a Sending number for caller id. I am guessing that the caller id is controlled by provider. Not sure what’s happening here🙃

@derfloh: yes. This option is enabled on the pri to forward the original caller id. Please see my above response and let me know what do you think?

If you want users to send their DDI as CLI you don't need to set it in the shortcode, the users will automatically send the number from Incoming Call Route.

If the users don't have a DDI or you wanna send another number like main or huntgroup DDI then you need to set it in the shortcode if using PRI.

@janni78 This is a great info and explains every thing. Is this only for PRIs? and how we can make it work over scn? for example. someone on location X tries to dial someone in location Z and the user in location Z has his extension forwarded to external number. Right now it shows Unknown as a caller ID!

It will use the ICR of the site where the PRI even if the user is on another site.

At least that was how it worked last time I did an SCN, which was a long time ago, it's all centralized and SIP now days.
