I would like to install EPO to manage my network client PCs AV software (VirusScan 4.5.1).

Unfortunately I only have one of 3 servers to choose from:

NT4.0 PDC
NT4.0 BDC (EXCH 5.5)
W2K - running client/server practice management system(PMS)

I've read that is best not to run EPO on a PDC for performance reasons. However, the BDC is almost full (looking to replace in next few months) and the W2K server efficiency cannot be compromised due to the nature of the PMS.

How is EPO likely to effect peformance of my servers if I install onto one of them? Should I consider buying a new "cheap" server and holding off installing until then?

Also, does the agent not run at all on W2K clients that have not yet been updated to SP1 or SP2?

Any advice would be great.

Many thanks

Hi

The performance is basically set on how many nodes you will manage through ePO?

McAfee recommends up to 200-250 nodes on a existing server. Above that it's better to have a dedicated server running ePO.

I would recommend you to buy a cheaper server to have a "clean" ePO environment.

The agent will run on your W2K SP1 machines.

Cheers
