I am just about to buy a new development PC on which I intend to develop a very large neural net/image analysis program using VC++. Having just returned from a year abroad, I have lost touch with the computer press and would greatly appreciate any advice anyone had to offer regarding which processor would be best for the task. I have in the past had occasional troubles using AMD processors with Visual C++ but know nothing about the top-end Athlon XPs. Does anyone have any suggestions based on thier own VC++ developing experiences? The kind of system I'm looking at is up to about a 1.9GHz P4 or equivalent.
