Hey all,

I would like to access one of my VMs using the VMware Infrastructure Client but the VM is behind a firewall. What ports do I need to forward to the VM in order to access it through the firewall using the Client?

Thanks,

Joe B

To all,

For what it's worth the link that Roadki11 gave me didn't help. I finally took my packet sniffer and set it up to just look at packets between me and the firewall, then I tried to use the VMware Infrastructure Client. I'm not sure why but for MY system the Client is using ports 3960 and 3961, not 902. I forwarded those ports (3960 and 3961) in my firewall and now it's working fine.

Thanks,

Joe B

You didn't use Wireshark to sniff the packets did you? That is the only thing I can find for ports 3960 & 3961? Nothing mentioned in the VMWare community...

TheLad (and anyone else reading this),

I use Colasoft Capsa for snagging packets. It works really well for me and has helped me find many "problem children" on my network. CC told me it was 3960 and 3961. I forwarded those two ports and it works. Sometimes I do revert back to using my Wireshark, but Capsa is my packet sniffer of choice. At this time...

Thanks,

Joe B
