Hey all,

My General Manager now has an iPhone (sometimes I'm not a big fan of Christmas) and he's trying to get it setup here at work. I've been trying to figure out what port(s) to forward on my firewall to get it to work and I haven't seen anything definitive. SO, what port(s) do I need to forward so his iPhone will work?

Thanks,

Joe B

Are you trying to connect it to your exchange or just using it for surfing the net via your wireless lan?

You don't forward ports, you follow the documentation on how to get email on the iPhone and it all works over port 80/443.

Well, port 80 is pointed to my mail server so I can get OWA to work but port 443 is blocked (block everything, then loosen things up as you have need). I will forward 443, then I'll ask him for the docs so I can get it working.

Thanks,

Joe B

In a safer environment, you'd block port 80 and open port 443. Port 80 isn't needed for OWA if you're using an SSL cert. Much more secure. But then again, you should also toss an ISA box in the perimeter and publish.
