which one to choose 1Z0-001 or 1Z0-007...

hi all
i passed SCJP in july'02 and now planning to take OCP.
But iam confused which one to take 1Z0-001 or 1Z0-007?
Is 1Z0-001 exam is same for OCP and OCA? i went thru the otn site but still not sure.To get OCA which exams we should take? please let me know and thankyou for the help.

As I know, 1Z0-001 is for Oracle 8i OCA and OCP, and since 1st Sep it's retired already, you have to take 1Z0-007 since it's for Oracle 9i OCA and OCP, but do you prepare for attend the Oracle Course(at least $1500) since for Oracle 9i OCP, you have to take at least one course from Oracle University.

I don't think Oracle 8i certification was retired on September 1. I haven't even seen a retirement announcement yet, and Oracle's policy is to continue certification for six months after a retirement announcement. On the other hand, Oracle 8 certification was retired in March, so that path is no longer available.

Can anyone verify the retirement status of Oracle 8i?

As an answer to the first post, if you've already taken 1Z0-001, it is accepted in place of 1Z0-007 to go towards OCA for 9i. I would highly recommend taking 007 exam if you have not already taken 001, because 007 is entirely online. I passed it last week. It is not an extremely easy test, even though it is online. You do have to prepare for it...I used the Sybex book and did just fine.

1Z0-001 is not yet retired. a colleague wrote it a month ago.

You can take either 007 or 001 for certification purpose for 9i. The only difference is that 007 is an online test, while 001 is a proctored one.

i m beginner in oracle programming, i don't know much abt the ocp certification, i don't even know how to use this site. if ne body have the time to help me then pl do, becos i have joined a company last month as a trainee and i m getting mind blowing exp which i can't even understand

Do I have to take Oracle University course before taking any of the Application Developer exams?

Or I can take the 4 exams first and then take the Oracle university course to receive certification?
