Hi,

I have been unable to get any email app apart from Entourage to work on my mac on a PowerMac G4 when connecting to Exchange. Now I have moved to a new Mac Pro i thought things would change -I have been mistaken. I have my Entourage setup, although all my contacts have disappeared which is a whole other problem altogether.

I tried to set up the mail app but no matter what kind of configuration i try it never wants to accept my password - it is the same one as used in Entourage for Exchange.

The same thing happens when I try to set up Thunderbird.

Any ideas?

I have Mail working with Exchange 2003.

The thing that caught me out was the authentication type.

Set up your account, then go to preferences/accounts.
Choose the account in the right hand pane, then click "Advanced".
Change the authentication method to "Password"

If you are still having trouble, make sure your username is in the format <username>@<local domain>

For instance, mine is pete@mycompany.local

sorry foamcow, DOES now work but none of my folders seem to appear.

now it works in Thunderbird too but doesnt bring in ALL my inbox subfolders

I know it took a long time to synch my folders and mail.

Try going to the "Mailbox" menu and selecting "Synchronise <mailboxname>"

thanks alot, seems to be synching up now as we speak.

Where do the contacts appear?

Um, I can't tell you since whoever set up our Exchange server and Windows network didn't bother using the central address book.

They *may* appear in Address Book. I know that iCal picks up calendar info from Exchange via Mail.
