Command boot -a shows file defaults to /kernel/sparcv9/unix..

man page on kernel says location is /kernel/unix..

Command find / -name "*unix*" show the following files:

/kernel/genunix apr 26 1437096
/platform/sun4u/kernel/genunix apr 26 1478960
/platform/sun4u/kernel/unix apr 26 692025
/platform/sun4u/kernel/sparcv9/genunix apr 26 1980152
/platform/sun4u/kernel/sparcv9/unix apr 26 824848

Since there is not a file /kernel/sparcv9/unix as boot -a
indicates which kernel is getting loaded ??????????
Machine is a 220r installed with 64 bit kernel requested..

Kernel file, GENUNIX and UNIX can be found in:

#ARCH is "uname -m", such as sun4u.
#for Ultra SPARC lines of system
/platform/ARCH/kernel
#for SPARC version 9 specifications, which support 64-bit operations.
/platform/ARCH/kernel/sparcv9

Module file can be found in:

/kernel
/usr/kernel
/platform/ARCH/kernel
#MODEL is "uname -i", such as SUNW,Ultra-250
/platform/MODEL/kernel

As I know, '-a' option represents alternate /etc/system file. This file is control the kernel directory, module directory. In your case, I think that should be /platform/sun4u/kernel/sparcv9. You know that your machine run as 64-bit operation.
