How can I tell which of my two DC's is the primary?

Thanks

Drop to a CMD prompt and run
netdom query FSMO

That will show you which servers are responsible for those particular roles.

However, there really isn't a "primary" and "backup" like in previous versions of Windows (NT). All DCs are treated the same, with the exception of tasks that require the FSMO roles.

There is no such thing as a PDC or BDC in Active Directory. There are FSMO roles - one of which is a PDC Emulator, but that's not quite the same as it was under NT4. In addition, it can be easily moved to any DC at any time.
