Hi guys,

I have two sybase installations on two different H/w.

Both(ASE) has the same name PROD_SRVR12, PROD_SRVR12.

Well, before you start advising me, let me explain why these two have the same names.

One of the Server (with powerful H/w) is going to replace the other one(earlier setup with low h/w resources). And that's the reason.

So, now. If I connect to one of these using "isql", how do I check which one I am connected to?

Is there a variable like @@servername, user_name() etc which tells me the Server H/w name onwhich ASE sits?

Come-up with any guess, if you are not sure. We can try.

Thanks,

RajD

hello,

try doing sp_helpdb and match the creation dates of the databases...

worth trying...

i am sure your are not connecting on the same ip and port... try this...

1. modify the interfaces file of one of your sql servers...
2. change the sql server name to something different temporarily... this will guarantee that you are connecting the sql server you want...
3. the downside to this... if you have programs with predefined connection variables... this may not work...

hope this helps...

Hi qyllr,

Looks like you were busy these days. I hope all is well.

Well, I did the same thing for now. Created a new interfaces file called global_interfaces and added entries to different servers with different names.

Thanks,

RajD
