I have a choice between a PNY Verto GeForce Ti4200 with 64mb ram, and a Gainward GeForce 4 Ultra/650 TV/DVI card.

I haven't been able to see any comparison tests for the cards and wondered if they would differ that much? From what I can read about the Gainward it also appears to be a Ti4200 with 64mb DDR ram.

Would there be any dramatic differences between the two? Is one built better than the other? I assume they will use the same Nvidia detonator drivers?

Lots of questions, but I'm a bit confused.

Feed "review (insert card name)" into your favorite search engine and sample what's being said about each...and do the same on groups.google.com just using the card name.
I'm seeing quite a few ppl having problems with PNY cards, posting to find an answer.
I favor Visiontek (now that they're going out of bidness!) from personal experience...but there are other reliable brands out there...
You also need to cultivate a peer group (possible where you live?) where you can exchange ideas/endeavors. i'd trust a 1 on 1 with someone I know far more than a review I read (which is I'm sure why you're asking here)
Careful...there are incompatibilities with some systems.
(haven't helped too much have I?)

I've tried checking out reviews on Google, but it's a bit of a lottery - that's why I was hoping someone here might have expereince of these two cards. I do see that the UK mag PC Zone has given the PNY card 92% this month and awarded it 'best buy', but then another mag said the Gainward was better and an overclockers dream.

I really am confused!

Actually I'd place greater emphasis on the groups.google.com search for each of these cards...these are "personal experience" to the max posters...

Our PC retail shop both fits and sells the Gainward Golden sample and the Leatek Winfast A250 LE TD Vivo. Both 64mb 4200Ti versions.
We prefer the Leadtek because of it's memory cooling and because it works with all the motherboards we sell
(the Gainward refuses to work with certain setups)
We have also found the Leadtek VIVO features extremely useful for conectivity and the memory cooling gives this card exceptional overclocking abilities.
Don't know about PNY! Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

Like Popeye sez, "Ya' pays yer money and ya' takes yer chances!" LOL

I have a PNY, wiht 64MB ram lots of heatsink on the ti4200 running on a via chipset allthe latest drivers etc. runs great. Basicly they are all the same, the pny uses the Nvidia drivers as default. That to me says somthing abt it being fairly generic.

Basically the card are made same spec from Nvidia,
so for the different in speed you can not tell

one thing you want to search for is the warranty and support
