Which gateway setting?

Hi there,

I am running RH8.

Can someone please explain the difference between the gateway setting in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
and the gateway setting in /etc/sysconfig/network. Is it something to do with multihomed servers?

From looking at a few of the servers here my guess is if it is a multihomed system the gateway info is pulled from the scripts. If not it is pulled from the sysconfig/network.

The servers with one nic have info in /etc/sysconfig/network

The multihomed machines do not.
