Best by what measure and for what purpose?
If you are looking at consumer class and SOHO class products, you should also include Xyxel, Netgear, SMC, Belkin, Microsoft and Buffalo in your research.
All of the companies mentioned have produced at times excellent products for their price and absolute dogs.

You will usually find more features when buying a 3com or especially a Cisco product. You will also find less nit noid problems with those brands as well, like the one that I am having with my linksys on another post. FYI: the following problem worked fine on my 3com router but I recently changed to this Linksys. If you are interested in using remote desktop back to your computer with this router then check it out.
