Doing simple daily backups at ~8pm to a tape drive on my server, which is an NT based system. I would also like to be able to do this while documents are being accessed on the server by users(http server, doc. management library, etc all being up and running 24/7). I have the ARCServe 2000 CD.
Thank you in advance.

You need the open file option for Arcserve. You might find a demo copy on your Arcserve 2000 CD but you will have to pay for a full version.

Is this the only thing I need to install on my server - the Backup Agent for Open Files -? I have it on my installation CD, installed it, and all I was able to get it to do was fill my Error Log on a daily basis. Do I still need to install the ARCServe 2000 Workgroup Edition, etc? Just trying to figure out what each application on the CD does for me.
Thanks for your time.

If you have the open file option installed on that machine it allows you to backup open files using Arcserve.

Arcserve can be installed locally or on a network machine.

So yes, you will also have to install standard Arcserve on that machine if you don't have Arcserve installed anywhere else on your network.

What are these errors you are talking about? Licensing?

Yes. Throws licensing error on the Tape/Library (31WC). Guess that they ship a Demo version of that too? I cant believe a company would ship a product that didnt have all of its features available - though it seems that way from what you're saying. Guess I have to buy the Tape and Open Files options now, huh? I really appreciate your time on this. No one else seems to know what to do with this program. Now it looks like I'll be the POC.
