I just loaded up linux on CD (from knoppix.com) which has Mozilla 5 mail - Does anybody know if I can get it to display a "new mail indicator" to appear in the tray like it does with outlook express?

If not, what other Linux clients will display it?

Thanks!

Which window manager are you using? Most window managers have a tool to display an icon in it's "tray" when there is new mail. //Daniel

Using KDE, with the option of booting into GNOME. Totally painless install BTW - after burning a CD from their free ISO, I setup my CMOS to boot off CD, and upon booting, all drivers for the network card, soundcard, graphics card & display were automatically loaded.

thank you, thats a nice utility, but not what I mean. I don't really want a standalone mail checker since I will be running a mail client already (mozilla 5).

What does it take to get mozilla mail to display a new mail indicator in the tray? It happens automatically with OE under windows.

Do I just need to tweak KDE or GNOME somewhere? I can go with either gnome or kde.

Mozilla Mail does not have such a utility. You have to use a third party client. //Daniel

Oh I found the answer - mozilla puts the new mail indicator at the bottom of the browser window instead of in the tray... ok I can deal with that...
