Howdy. In the Portal Site, say you're an admin and you want to post a picture in a content editor web part or you want to add pictures to your news items. Where is a good place to upload your photos? I tried uploading them to MySite, but that seems dumb. There's gotta be a more appropriate location that I'm overlooking. Thanks!

What about Creatinga picture library at the portal level and make sure that all the users that should be able to read the news item with the image also have access to this picture libirary.
All you need to make sure is that the source location of where you put the image is readable for all the users that reads the news item.

At the Portal click Manage Content from the Actions menu on the left (if you do not see it you do not have the appropriate rights), then click create link and you will be able to create a Picture Library.
