Where to start

Hi

I have started a new job where we use UNIX and i am trying to get to grips with it for the first time. Can I install Unix alongside windows 2000? What is the most popular version of unix? I am not sure what version we use at work i think its called sco how can i tell?

Finaly any good book recommendations? Thanks in advance!
