I purchased a NEW BCM 50 with software. I installed the all the licences. (4 CO lines, 4 digital, 3 ips, 2 analogs and 4 mail boxes).

But I am a MICS GUY. I have no IDEA where to start. The books (sorry manuals) are not very helpfull for a newby. I bought this sytem for in house use. To learn the basics of the BCM 50.

Any help on where to start. would be appreciated.

I am going to sign up for training in the next couple months but I need to get started some where.

Thanks For your time and efforts!

Sincerely, thephoneboy

Have to performed the start-up steps located in the manuals?

I'm not well versed on the bcm50 either, but just started there and trudged my way through it.

You can always sign up for training by clicking the link at the top of this page and go to the training tab for BCM50 training. But.....

Connect to the OAM port (first one to the right of the power plug in). Then open your Internet Explorer browser.

When you first hit the IP address (10.10.11.1) of the BCM 50 you will see:

Welcome to BCM 50

The manuals are pretty good if you read them all the way through. That is what I did when I learned the MICS and they were very helpful. I found the same thing with the BCM. It takes some time to get through them, but if you are already proficent with Norstar it should go much faster.

I printed them "all" when I first started. After I worked through the manuals I went to training. Did not learn very much in training though. It was more like a Norstar review for the most part.

I went to school at Global Knowledge and loved it. However, I have read the training manual that they have many times and it is thick! I have read through the docs on the CD. Get into Element Manager and look around for a while.
