Ok, I am a newb to servers. When setting up apache, where do i get the domain name that I put in? Tried a made up one and the computers ip address. I know its something easy =P

You can't make up a name. If you want the server to be see from the internet, you either need to use your IP or register a domain name that will be associated with that IP. You can get your own domain name for about $8.00 or so from or pay about $35.00 for one at Network Solutions. It will take about 48 to 72 hours before things start working.

When you register the name, you will create a record that directs the domain name to your IP address.

You can only use made-up names for a local intranet.

You can temporarily use your IP address until the domain is active (i.e., Newposter
