We're purchasing a remote agent license for a new Exchange server to run with our existing 9.1 backup exec -- can someone tell me real quick if the agents are shipped on separate media, or do they install from the regular BE CD and then you use the license key to activate it?

I'm away from the office and can't check the CD to find out where it is.

If it's not on the CD, can I contact Veritas after we get the license and download it from them?

Thanks!

Yes, when you install from the CD, you enter the license key, and it will detect it as whatever agent you purchased, and it will install it. There is no separate media. You can also download your build of Backup Exec from Veritas.

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

goto tools - serial numbers and installations - local option and add the serial number. Matt is right you may need the cd for the install - it may request it to updae some files. If the Exchange server is remote all you need is the regular remote agent out there.

thanks to both of you -- that will save me a bunch of scrambling tomorrow!
