We have just formatted and re-installed Win2k on this machine, and as I re-installed the Adobe applications, I noticed Pagemaker 7 came with 2 CD's, and that I was not asked to insert CD 2 during the installation, so I browsed the CD found a clipart gallery and PDF catalogue. We have, as far as I know, never used any of the content on that CD before, but it could very well become useful to us.

The only thing I do not like about it, is that one obviously must have CD 2 in the tray at all times to get to the material. So, I copied the content to a new folder on the same partition as Pagemaker, and have had a look in the PM root folder to see if I could find some .ini file or something to edit, as PM now is checking the G: station (CD-r on this machine), but no luck so far.

I would appreciate it if anybody could tell me what file to edit, as we simply are too many working on the same PC's, and that CD would be doomed to disappeared at a point for sure if it was to stay in the tray.

Thanks in advance :)

Sincerely,

Hi, webfire,

I quote from:
archive/pdfs/0003qapm.pdf

"You just need to set up your clipart files in a location that PageMaker recognises. PageMaker looks for the clipart in files in a library directory at the root of the hard disk on which the library is stored (whether that's on your system or on a network). In addition, the directory's name and structure must match exactly what's on the Content CD. For example, PageMaker looks in D:\Library\[category]\[picturename] where D:\ designates the CD-ROM drive. To fix the problem, create a Library directory on your hard disk, organise it like the one on the Content CD, and move the clipart files to it."

In my case, I have PM installed on the D: drive in the folder D:\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0 with all the library files copied into D:\Library This works beautifully, though I rarely if ever use the images.

I hope this helps.

Hello John :) Thank you very much, we have just replaced a HD and had to reformat it before doing a fresh Win2k install, so I am re-installing the Adobe applications and checking and adjusting some Win2k settings, will try what you said as soon as I have installed Pagemaker again. I appreciate this, thanks again! *thumbs up and big grin*

Sincerely
