Trying to find topology.cnf as described in earlier threads but directory structure does not exist.

Am using NMS 9.2 on W2k.

Have found a shortcut file called topology which is of type 'SpeedDial' but no '.cnf'

This directory is \optivity\nms\apps\topology

I too cannot get autotopology to work. OmniView works and I can see Router ports to monitor.
Don't see any other local devices (switches) either.

Cheers...

Hi,
This is the file you are looking for. Try to edit with a notepad.
Before start the autotopoly process you can:
1- Install the OITs and paths files. If you have the 9.2 version there are to patches : 9.2.0.1 and 9.2.0.2.
2 - Config the community strings.
3 - Be sure that the Seed router has the correct routing topology.
4 - Be sure that the switches are included in the arp table in the near router (default gateway sense). You can fix the arp entry pooling the switch with a ping for example.
5 - Try the autotopoly process with the debug & log entries in the topology.cnf file set to 9 (for example), and analyze the logs files that the autotopology process will place in the log directory.

Can be a hard work...
Sorry for my english

Hello:
The .cnf file should be a text only file.Try saving the file as text,or associate the speed dial as a text file. This was a problem I had.

Good Luck
