Where is the mail located?

I've never configured or installed sendmail, but I'm somewhat familiar with Unix OS's.

I've been asked to remove a mail that is bouncing back and forth between our exchange- and sendmail-server? I haven't recieved a good explanation about the problem yet.
They claim they can't remove the mail, but I figure it must be located somewhere in the filesystem? (Am I wrong?)

My question is... where would that be?

This is probably a default-installation performed by an external consultant several years ago.

What flavor of linux are you using? On Red Hat, you will find the users mail in a file with the users name in the directory /var/spool/mail/. Don't hold me to this but I think if your mail gets queued or has to be resent then it goes into /var/spool/mqueue.

I think it's a Solaris (SunOS 5.7?) machine.

I'll have a check in the spool directory.

thanks. /Sören
