Hi All,

I am new to this Novell and need help from some expertise in this forum.

We had a Novell netware 4.2 in our network and its a fileserver. All the users in the network are on windows OS.
We have a windows 2003 server as well(domain).

All the workstations have a Novell client as well, when users login to the domain they get mapped to some of the Novell drives and printers as well.

I guess this is all controlled by some script in Novell to map the drives and printers when users login to the domain.

Whats the script name and where is the script located ?

I wanted to move these printers to windows environment.

Any help !!!!!!!!!!

--Thanks

The script file is located within the NDS files on your server. It is in a hidden directory that you can't generally access, and should not even try to do.

There are 4 types of Login Scripts in a Novell world (Using NDS).

1) Profile Script - Specific script generally used in unusual circumstances. You most likely can ignore this one

2) Container Script - Each OU (Organizational Unit) has a Login Script attribute that can be modified. Anyone that logs into a tree -- well, the container script gets run first.

3) User Script - Each User Object has a login script attribute that can be used to setup user specific tasks. Generally the idea is not to overmanage scripts, so avoid whenever possible.

4) Default Script - If no User script exists (or if the NO_DEFAULT instruction is not in the container script), the Default script will run that maps some default mappings - usually F: to the SERVER\SYS volume and a search drive to SERVER\SYS\PUBLIC

The Container script is most likely what you are looking for. Go to NetWare Administrator, which is used to manage NDS. It is located on your server at SYS:pUBLIC\WIN32\NWADMN32.EXE. When you get there, you will see your tree structure. Right click on the Container where your users are, right click and hit 'details'. You should see a Login Script tab. Click on that and you should find what you are looking for.

If not, reply with other questions that you may have.

Marvin,

Thanks I could edit that script, but this script only
contains the drive mappings to the novell server.

The users are also getting mapped to the printers which are part of the novell server.

How do i get to the printers mapping script ?

Where is it ?

Usually, if you're running legacy printques and not NDPS, you use a capture statement in the login script. Since this isn't happening, it's more likely to have been setup on each workstation. How many clients are there on the network?

Otherwise, Marv is right, it's going to be somewhere in NWAdmin.

on 4.2 pre ndps etc
if there are no captures in the script then someone has manually captured the q's on each pc

As mentioned by others... if you have nothing in your scripts that reference printers, it has been setup manually and is a real pain in the rear. Get on the fast track for NDPS and you'll be loving the things you can do with Novell's printing services.
