Hi all,
I am trying to find the file where Windows 2000 stores the names of applications that are loaded during the startup phase. Or does a Windows utility exist to add/delete files from this list of applications.
p.s. I know how to do this for the START menu but can't find anything similar for the startup phase.

The only applications that are started are the ones in the Startup folder. What exactly are you trying to do?

Buck,
There are alot more places than just the start up folder where programs can be set to run on startup. I'm linking a good reference that lists where these places are and utilities that can be used to edit them. I use regcleaner to clean the programs that start automatically.

Link to regcleaner.
