This sounds stupid I know, but I can't find documentation on where the hard drive is for an eMac. I have done google searches but can't seem to come up with the documentation.
I'm more of a PC person and well, what I thought was the hard drive turned out to be the CD ROM.

Any pointers? I started taking it apart in hopes to find it, but the wilko.com sight scared me about touching anything with lethal voltage and didn't feel safe playing around too much.

Thanks!

Hey Lady (couldn't resist the Jerry reference),

I found a forum post on replacing the HD in an eMac and it is daunting to say the least. I do a lot of computer upgrades and this one would be a challenge. Aparently it is buried deep in the machine but this guy gives some instructions about it but it is a difficult thing to do.

Here's the link and good luck:

Thanks Kyle,

Unfortunately I got gave in and reformatted the hard drive. Nevertheless though, from the sounds of other forums on eMacs, the B tree node is a common issue, so I will keep this around for reference *if* the hard drive should crash again.

Thanks again!

Lady

B tree node matters are not your hard drive crashing. You simply need to invest in Norton Utilities or SystemWorks before they stop selling it. Running Norton's Disk Doctor once in a while will cure this problem. Only replace the drive if it is physically failing. This is a software error that can be fixed easily.
