Hi,
I have windows media player 12 on Win7. And it will discover UPNP. But two problems:
It shows duplicates of the media files, so far up to four duplicates listed of the same file. I've tried fixing that with remedies found on the web but so far no luck.
It will not show me a folder view of the UPNP media. I have everything organized in folders they way I like. And other UPNP clients will show "pc directory" and I can drill down into the folder/file tree and get exactly what I want to play. WMO 12 shows files organized in some way I don't find usable. I just want a simple folder tree view which all other clients give me the option for except for WMP.
With these two problems the UPNP listing/display is unusable.
Any possible fixes? I serve UPNP with Mediatomb...
VLC would be an alternative but it has a bug were it takes huge amounts of time to fully discover large UPNP collections. I wait 15 minutes anytime I try to use it - tried the nightly devel. versions too.
Foobar it great but only plays music.
All the other UPNP solutions for Windows are to big - they're total overkill, eg MediaMonkey is hardwired into Amazon. All I want is a simple client. There are good choices in Linux but I can't find any in Windows.
