I have 2 different BCM 400 4.0 having trouble with the msg waiting not displaying on the phones now and then. All T 7316E, both systems fully patched, both have 4 MSPECS and are in the 70 phone range. I have built a seperate class of service for theese few extensions having the issue, with the maximum settings for mailbox and message times. One system has UM and the calls show up new in the email inbox as new but no indicator on the phone. I have replaced phones, changed ports, run new cable, installed new jacks.

Where is the MWI sent from? Is this a replacable part?

What else could cause this? I can't imagine I'm the only one with this issue.

Could it be that they are using the "static time" feature?
Disable it with Feature #806.

When using Unified Messaging sometimes the outlook will look at a new message as read and not light the icon and phone.Check the reading payne in options of Outlook. I also have had a monitoring program on the network do this too.

No time static ime and date as this is speratic problem. I will look ito the outlook, but still dosnt explain the other BCM without UM.

In the programming for those particular sets is the VOICE MESSAGE CENTER set to one. You should be able to look under Preferences tab, voice messaging. I belive voice message center one is the collection point for MWI. Worth a shot. Let us know what you find.

LKEV-I will look into the voice message center I believe 1 is default and that shouldn't have been changed.

Curly-Tried to delete and recreate, and yes MWI is set for that extension. It works at times but the other times not.

I'll also look to at outlook as cook sugested.

I'll also suggest they make a more complex password.... Just in case.

I've had the same issue at one site a year. For only 2 of the 40 mailboxes.
It's a BCM 50 Rel2.0. Customer had this same issue on their last Nortel 8x24 system with Flash VM.

I too have changed everything: rebuilt the mailboxes, rebooted system, upgraded system to the latest release, changed sets and set types, re-created the set, changed cabling pairs, taught user how to use other functions of the set (keypad rather than softkeys), I was going to change customer to an IP phone to see if that would make a difference but customer did not want the IP set (not enough buttons for him).

It too is a spuratic MWI issue, have the customer monitor to see if they receive 2 messages rather than one message when the MWI finally does light up to prove the VM has an issue in sending the message indicator for one message.

Thinking that maybe there is an issue with the signalling from the system to the set.

I would like to hear any updates or solutions to this issue.

By chance, are these phones being rebooted between the time the MWI message is sent and the user is at the phone?

I had a similar problem with a CS1000 where power was lost to the phone after MWI was on. When the user returned to the phone there was no light. Later another message was left which turned the light back on and the user then discovered multiple messages that were several days old.

Just a thought...

ynotphone, I didn't say this in this post, but have about this same issue on an older post. One of theese systems was an MICS with with a NAM and the VM indicator was an issue then. We upgraded to the BCM 400 and the problem followed. Maybee I'm looking to far into this, the problem may be someone know's their password and is listening to their messages. I don't know, but I'll deffinently recomend a stronger password. I will also look to the other sugestions and post my results.....

Boom thanks, but not the case here!

Thanks. Happy 4th!
