I'm not sure this is a sendmail specific issue but I'll ask it here.
We have a variety of Outlook email clients and use Sendmail as the SMTP server.
Some of the email clients behave correctly wrt message-ids; they insert their own valid ID in the form 'random_alphanumeric@emailaddress.domain'.
Others (Outlook 2003 only) don't add message-ids and Sendmail adds a valid ID.
But a few email clients(again Outlook 2003) add an invalid message-ID in the form of 'random_alphanumeric@domain.local'.
(domain is our actual network domain name in this case)
Most spam filters see this and immediatley drop the messages.
Now I thought that Outlook 2003 DIDN'T add a message ID ever.
So where is it coming from and how do we stop it?
Thanks
