Where do these things come from??

When I request a web site (including this one), I often get two or three new windows with various ads. I don't seem to get them when I'm just sitting on a web site, but following a transmission I get these unsolicited windows. I'm on a cable connection and have a wireless router installed. Can anyone explain how these work and and is there a browser (IE6) or router setting that would block things from sites to which I haven't transmitted. I don't recall getting these when I was on a dial-up.

Some of these attach tehmselves to your browser via various mediums. Please download either AdAware (

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/)

or SpyBot (

http://spybot.eon.net.au/)

and purge whatever demons may have attached themselves to your pc. Post back if your problem persists...
