New at exchange.

I used a quickstart guide provided with the SBS R2 beta (by Microsoft at a Microsoft event) and it said to partition the drive 25 GB for the system (C:) and the rest for data (E:).
It seems to me they sit on the System drive.
I would prefer to move them to avoid reaching any sort of capacity on the system partition.
Why Microsoft provided such directions without accompanying steps for redirection of folders and mailboxes is beyond me.

From what I understand, they are in the information store which is comprised of the following files: priv1.edb, priv1.st, pub1.edb and pub1.stm. On my server, they are located E:\ProgramFiles\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA.

You have the (electronic) documentation to do it. You just elect not to use it.

The mailboxes are part of the IS. They reside in priv1.edb and priv1.stm (unless you elect to change their name). The pub1.edb and pub1.stm are the Public Folders.

They reside in the location specified during the setup, and can easily be moved.

As Pat has pointed out, you skipped right over this step during the SBS installation.

You can change the location after the fact if needed.

I hope you find this post helpful.

I don't recall during the setup, it asking for where the email box store should be when installing the Premium disc. But I could be mistaken.
Thanks for the direction.

You are prompted during the basic setup. Exchange is part of the Standard SBS portion. The Premium disk just gives you SQL and ISA.

I hope you find this post helpful.
