hi guys,
Im having a bit of troble getting my php page to connect to my mysql database. The thing a cannot understand is Where exactly do i put the actual database(which i have created locally) on my web server? Does it go in the root directory of the website? this is the step which a lot of the tutorials dont seem to explain. They just give you the connect code and thats it! I feel i am almost there ...any help would be much appreciated..thankyou

Sarah

You've got to contact the webhost about this. Normally they already created the db for you, which they can rename if you like.

What kind of webserver is it? Unix, Linux, NT? Do you have shell access (command-line)?

What kind of database, MySQL? Was it MySQL on your local computer also?

Without answering these questions no one can help you ;-).

Oh Ok thaks i get the idea..Ill talk to my webhost. It is a unix server and my db is sql..Thanks for replying..Sare
