Hi all,
Have written a site for a client and they're happy with it, but have asked whether it is possible to have links to it on other sites, which when clicked, tells my site where they have come from.

What the client obviously wishes to do is to track their marketing and discover which of their ad sites generate the most interest.

Is this sort of this possible through HTML/JAVA or is it something that should be performed by the company that is hosting the website?

Hi mate,

You need some sort of logging process.

have a decent one.

Another way is simply to make the links on the external sites use a query string ( have a server side script to count the hits.

Hope this helps Wullie

Cheers Wullie. I'll have a look at the script but I'm not up to server side stuff yet. I'd like to read up on it, so if you know where there's any online stuff, or if you can recommend a good book, I'd be grateful.

Hi mate,

If you are not sure about server side scripts, then use the auto installer that they provide, you just tell it the FTP details etc and it sets the whole thing up for you. All you need to do is include one line of code into each page.

Hope this helps Wullie
