Windows 98 Start Run Regedit HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Evrsion\InternetSettings\P3P\History
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Evrsion\InternetSettings\ZoneMap\Domains
What feeds the info back to these places after they have been delited? And is this info stored in more than one other place? And how can I get to it? I am certain I had 2 Trojans in this area, as well as possibly several Viruses.I have run a number of registry cleaners [spy bot, ad-aware, error nuker, panda, big fix,Registry Mechanic, spyware blaster and am fairly sure it is clean now, but I want to keep that way. Also I'm aware of Deldomains.inf
Looking foward to your response.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Hi, I suggest you try MS-Antispyware and Webroot SpySweeper.

After your scan with MS-Antispyware, go to:

tools/advanced tools/tracks eraser and erase all (this should get rid of your P3P history (cookies).

Edit your "trusted sites" security zone to see if there are sites that doesn't belong there.

What's your precise symptoms to make you say you have trojan?

Hope this helps. Please let know if this resolve your issue

Since you have a Win98 machine, you probably can't use MS Antispyware.

You need to go to Trend Micro and do a virus scan or go to and download AVG 7.0 Free and do a full system scan.

Hope this helps,

Erik

I'm afraid the MS-Antispyware Beta doesn't work on Win 98.

If sunflower oil comes from sunflowers, and vegetable oil comes from vegetables, where does baby oil come from?

Trend Micro with Spybot and/or anther spyware product should clean this out. Just do a full security scan with them and it'll do both spyware and virus.

I believe I will restate my questions.
I run Windows 98SE
I used the following commands: Start, Run, Regedit
I inspected the following Registry entries and deleted them.
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\InternetSettings\P3P\History
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\InternetSettings\ZoneMap\Domains

What program(s) or program settings insert these registry entries?
How can I stop these entries from being created or recreated in my registry?

Thanks again for your patiences and expertise.

And I would follow the above suggestions still. As for those specific entries, I don't know what installs them, but programs like Spybot will prevent re-infection...

Hi, these registry keys are populated by Internet explorer:

P3P: cookies

ZoneMap: domains in the restricted sites or trusted sites at the security zones level.

If you do not want this to be populated, I suggest to use SandBoxIE. (
Also, delete the sites in your trusted sites security zones if not needed.

Hope this helps. Please let know if this resolve your issue
